Job Title: Kitchen Staff / Kitchen Cook


Location: Central Kansas Christian Academy (CKCA), Great Bend, Kansas


Position Type: Part-Time, approximately 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday – Thursday (During the school year, following 26/27 CKCA calendar)

Central Kansas Christian Academy (CKCA), a K-8 Christian school located in Great Bend, Kansas, currently serves over 80 students with a dedicated staff of 15 full-time and part-time professionals. Our mission is to provide a high-quality Christian education by partnering with parents to nurture students' relationship with God while achieving academic excellence.


About WOW:

Warriors of the Word (WOW) is an after-school program designed to enhance children's lives through discipleship in Christ, service to others, and the development of leadership skills. Running Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, with an exception of noon dismissals from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, following the CKCA calendar, WOW is open exclusively to CKCA students. This program offers a wonderful opportunity to serve the kingdom of God through ministry work while positively impacting students' lives.


Position Summary:

Responsible for preparing nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and supporting the school’s meal program. The role requires a Christ-like attitude of service, attention to safety standards, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Model a servant-hearted attitude, integrity, humility, and a positive spirit reflecting Christ’s love.

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to menus and safety standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness during and after meal times—washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and cleaning equipment.

  • Monitor food storage temperatures, inventory, and supplies; assist with weekly/monthly orders and menu planning.

  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation protocols to ensure a healthy environment.

  • Support end-of-year cleaning, inventory, and kitchen organization.

  • Uphold school policies, demonstrate dependability, and foster a team-oriented work environment.


Qualifications:

  • Committed believer in Jesus Christ, demonstrating a Christ-like attitude in service and work ethic.

  • Strong work ethic, dependable, organized, and attentive to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper cooking temperatures.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures.

  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment.

  • Previous food service/kitchen experience preferred but not required.

  • Support meal planning with knowledge of nutrition or willingness to learn about healthy meal planning.
