CKCA athletics

Central Kansas Christian Academy is blessed to provide a variety of athletic opportunities for our students.
In addition to daily physical education classes, we offer
extracurricular sports teams for students eager to participate beyond the classroom.
Our school sponsors boys and girls basketball teams for students in 3rd through 6th grade, and cheerleading for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. Additionally, students in 7th and 8th grades have the opportunity to participate in other athletic activities through partnerships with Great Bend Middle School and the Goldenbelt Christian League.
Please explore the sections below to learn more about each of these athletic programs.

3-6th Grade basketball
Boys and girls basketball teams are organized for students in 3rd through 6th grades. Registration is open and practices begin in mid to late September. Each student is responsible for paying a fee and for taking care of the uniform they will check out. Players also receive a t-shirt as part of their registration fee. Practices are held 2-3 days per week. We believe that sports are an important part of our children's lives and can be a way to glorify God through our athletic gifts. Sports help develop many skills that carry over into adulthood. The program changes a bit from year to year, but the primary goal is to give students an opportunity to build fundamental skills, make memories, experience game time, and learn from the team sport. Our current coaches are Jeremy Ortiz, Brenden and Malloy Damon, and Scott Beahm. Student/team managers vary from year to year. **Coaches will work with conflicting sport schedules**

3-8th Grade Cheer
Students in 3rd through 8th grades are invited to participate in our cheerleading team. Cheerleaders are responsible for team spirit during basketball games, as well as performing special half-time shows. Cheerleading is occasionally opened up to younger grades for special clinics and camps. Registration is open until August 1st, 2025 for the 25/26 school year. Each student is responsible for paying a sign-up fee and for taking care of the uniform they will check out. Cheerleaders also receive a t-shirt with part of their registration fee. Practices are held 1-2 days per week. The program changes a bit from year to year, but the primary goal is to give students an opportunity to build fundamental skills, make memories, and learn from the team sport.
7-8th Grade Partnership
We believe that sports are an important part of our children's lives and can be a way to glorify God through our athletic gifts. Sports help develop many skills that carry over into adulthood. Help us build the future of CKCA by giving your child two additional years of CKCA's top-notch education while still getting the extra curricular experiences pre-teens crave.
WHAT IS BOOSTER CLUB

CKCA has a fun and important volunteer group called Booster Club that is responsible for raising school spirit in conjunction with sporting events and other school activities. These roles can vary between working the concession stand, hanging posters around the school, decorating the gym before games, surprising students with locker decorations, or other school spirit-building activities. If you have a little time to help - or a lot - we'd welcome your time and talents to help us enhance student life at CKCA!

Booster Leaders wanted
Booster Club is searching for additional members. We have a LOT of fun, and it's a minimal partial-year commitment. But even though it's only part of the school year, it makes a big impact on our students' experience during their time at CKCA. Anyone willing to join in on Booster Club fun at any capacity should complete the below online volunteer form or contact Cherie Jacobs at: booster@ckcacademy.com.
