Keep your child reading, learning, and growing this summer!
CKCA sent out an email to CKCA families about our Books & Blessings Summer Reading Challenge, designed to help students stay engaged in learning while having fun throughout the summer months.
Research shows that students who continue reading during summer break are more likely to maintain their academic progress and begin the next school year with confidence. Without regular reading practice, many students experience what's known as the "summer slide,"Â a loss of reading skills that can occur when learning is put on hold for several months.
Just 15–20 minutes of reading a day can help children:
Strengthen reading skills
Build vocabulary and comprehension
Increase confidence as readers
Develop a lifelong love of books
Return to school better prepared for success
A Challenge That Builds Faith and Character
The Books & Blessings Summer Reading Challenge goes beyond reading books. Students will have opportunities to read Bible stories, memorize Scripture, encourage friends, serve others, and complete acts of kindness that reflect Christian values.
Families can also take advantage of MobyMax, a personalized online reading program, to help students continue practicing reading skills at their individual level throughout the summer.
Fun Incentives
Students who complete the Summer Reading Challenge will earn an invitation to Skate at Up N' Rollin Skate Center as a reward for their participation and commitment. Just simply, turn in your completed challenge sheet on CKCA's Enrollment Day which is on August 6th, 9a-1pm and 5-7pm in exchange for an invitation.
