Central Kansas Christian Academy (CKCA) proudly extends its heartfelt gratitude to the students of Great Bend High School (GBHS) Honor Society for their outstanding service on Earth Day, April 22, 2026.

Thanks to their dedication, CKCA’s grounds were transformed through landscaping efforts, including weed and leaf removal, as well as the general beautification of outdoor spaces like the playground.

As a non-profit school operating with limited resources, CKCA relies heavily on volunteers to maintain and improve its facilities. A CKCA representative expressed sincere appreciation for the students’ generosity and hard work, noting, “We are forever grateful for the support of Great Bend High School students. Their willingness to serve and give back truly embodies the spirit of community and Earth Day.”

In recognition of their efforts, CKCA prepared goodie bags for the volunteers, including snacks, Earth Day-themed items, a CKCA lanyard, and Bible verses focused on caring for God's creation. The students enjoyed a warm meal from the CKCA Warrior Way Cafe during their break, where they shared a prayer together with CKCA students, fostering a sense of community and gratitude.

CKCA also extends a sincere thanks to lead CKCA parent volunteer for Earth Day, Alicia Hughes, who worked very hard—even after the students left—to make the final touches on the rose bushes. Additionally, thanks to CKCA Principal Sherry Pruter, Custodian Dennis Palmer, and Teacher Brandon Schroeter for their invaluable efforts during the day. Their contributions—bringing tools, trash cans, and even a truck to dump debris—were essential to the success of this project and exemplify the collaborative spirit that makes CKCA a special school.

Earth Day reminds us that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility—one that begins with small acts of kindness and service.

Thank you to all who participated in this meaningful day of service. CKCA looks forward to continued partnerships that strengthen our community and our commitment to environmental stewardship.
