About CKCA
Central Kansas Christian Academy has been formed
through the cooperation of Christians who have worked together to make
sure that quality Christian education is available to those who seek it
for their children. CKCA is a result of two schools who came
together to better meet the needs of the community and surrounding area.
Berean Christian School was started in 1978 at the First
Assembly of God Church in Great Bend, KS, as the leadership of that
church wanted to "train children how to live both now and for
eternity, to see life from God's viewpoint, to mature spiritually,
mentally, socially, and physically, and to offer basic Christian training
in addition to the basic academics for all children of Bible believing
parents".
Grace Academy was started in 1995 in connection with
Grace Community Church. It was originally started as a preschool
and eventually grew to include elementary grades, by adding one at a time
beginning with kindergarten then adding first grade and so on.
Eventually, the decision was made for these two
schools to merge and form one larger community Christian school. By
December of 2001, a new building at 215 McKinley in Great Bend was
finished. The first classes were held in the new building in
January of 2002. We continue to enroll between 90 and 100 students
in grades K-8. In 2005, the name changed to Central Kansas
Christian Academy in order to more accurately convey its
non-denominational status.
CKCA is a member of the Association of Christian
Schools International (ACSI). ACSI is the largest Christian school
association in the world, with a membership of more than 5,000 schools and colleges in 100 countries.
ACSI is an Evangelical Christian organization, which provides student and
teacher services exclusively for Christian schools.
The CKCA Governing Board holds meetings on the third
Tuesday of each month (except for June and December), at 7:00 pm at the
school. Any interested person is welcome to attend as a guest.
